Saint Joseph Hermitage

This chapel was discovered by Ángel María Ruiz Gálvez in Protection Archive. Saint Joseph Chapel is located in Empedrada Street. We owe its construction to Mr Alonso Escribano Piedrahita and Ms María de Gaona Mesa who asked to build this hermitage upon the celebration of their marriage in 1667.

The hermitage, attached to a house, has the purpose of opening a tribune which connected the house with the hermitage. Nowadays it is completely modified and it has been reduced. It has got a high and covered roof, which is divided into mezzanine and top floor. The hermitage rest as a simple room with satin roof. it have an arch cupola cut off the mezzanine. Inside the hermitage there is a pictoric altarpiece of the XVIII century with many paintings which represent Saint Joseph’s life. In the middle of the hermitage had an important painting which french stole. Nowadays it have only a simple niche with a Saint Joseph’s painting of XVIII century.
